Career Coaching Steps

Step 1

About You

The first step in career coaching is to establish a good understanding of who you are, what are some of your qualities in your personality, your skills and strengths, your values and your career history.

In this session we capture the key aspects about you to help guide your clarity on your career, strengths and interest to create a career plan going forward.

    • Review of your career to date; including roles, skills and capabilities

    • Clear understanding of your values and strengths

    • Very clear list of skills and how they are effective in any role

    • A clear story about your work history, however long or short

Step 2

Your Tools

The second step in career coaching is to establish a great set of tools for the job application and networking process. This includes a great resume, quality cover letters and perfected application questions. In this step, we can either help your write some of your tools or coach you to be able to write your own.

This second step also looks at helping you write and develop a professional and standout LinkedIn profile.

    • A strong, well written resume that really links you and your career plan

    • The ability to write great cover letters

    • The ability to write excellent application questions

    • A confident LinkedIn profile

    • An understanding of how LinkedIn works for you

Step 3

Finding Jobs

The third step in career coaching is about creating opportunities through job search platforms, your network and other job searching tools. This can include understanding the job platforms and how you can make them work for you, making a plan to connect with your network and stepping into the world of recruiters.

This third step is also about understanding job advertisements and what the employers are really looking for. We can support you in reading advertisements, job descriptions and to match your skills to each role.

    • A clear plan on your job search activities

    • A job search approach that will use both your network, recruiters and the external job platforms

    • A clear understanding of what employers are looking for through their job advertisements.

Step 4

Interviewing

This fourth step is all about interview preparation and practice. This step will cover behavioural interviews, general interviews and understanding your audience. It will help you prepare answers for your interview, build your confidence and develop clarity on your key strengths and messages for the interviewers.

In this step we also highly recommend that we have a “mock interview” in a safe and fun space.

    • A clear and reusable preparation plan to prepare for any interview

    • Confidence to go into an interview and talk about your skills and strengths

    • Clarity in the messages and information you want to bring to the interview

    • A mock interview with immediate feedback
